Siu-Nim-Tao meaning “little idea.”

Think of martial arts as a form of physical communication, to learn to communicate in a western language; one would first learn the alphabet, its sequence, the pronunciation of each letter, where it would fit into each word and then possible alternate words as one’s vocabulary increases.

Siu-nim-tao “Little Idea”

This is the first of the Wing Chun Kuen forms and is the most important of all forms; it is like learning the alphabet to aid communication. It is taught from the beginner level. It is the beginning of the Wing Chun Kuen concepts, translates as ‘the little idea’ or ‘small concepts’, Siu-Nim-Tao consists of stance development, correct positioning of wrists and elbows, the form teaches the majority of the tools and techniques used in the Wing Chun Kuen system, it also helps the student to understand the correct elbow pressure while maintaining relaxed muscularity.

Over several years, the student will practise the Siu-Nim-Tao form through 4 phases, using different energy; this will depend on their experience level.
